The main duties and responsibilities as pharmacist:

You should have certain qualifications to work as a pharmacist in Dubai
- You should have minimum of two years working experience in a retail pharmacy.
- Diploma or a degree in pharmacy
- You have to successfully pass the examination which is conducted by Dubai health authority. And for this you have to register online with all your credentials and also have to appear for the exam.

DHA (DUBAI HEALTH AUTHORITY)
DHA or the Dubai health authority is an exam for pharmacist which allows you to work in emirates of Dubai. It is an exam to acquire a license which is given to medical aspirants or professionals who would like to work in Dubai. It is mandatory to pass the DHA exam. The Candidates must have minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital or any retail pharmacies in order to attend this exam. The questions are computer based multiples choice questions of 150 questions, which is divided as pharmacology, case study, pharmaceutical calculations.
There are some aspects to be noted before appearing for the exam :-
- Duration of the exam is 2.5 hours
- The minimum marks to be secured for passing the exam is 60%
- Maximum of 3 attempts are only allowed
- Exam centres are available all over the world
Steps and procedures
The health sector of UAE is administered by three regulatory authorities which has separate rules and regulations in respective emirates. The first step for Indian pharmacist opting to be licensed in the UAE should choose the emirates they prefer to work in.
- Health authority Abu Dhabi(HAAD) health in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
- Dubai Health Authority (DHA) healthcare in Dubai.
- Ministry of health and prevention(MOH) administer health care in the remaining emirates.
Register with health authority
Register with health authority is the second step in the procedure by using e-service available on the website. All the documents and certificates are verified and the credential are verified in one to two months and PSV or the primary source verification are generated.
Pharmacist assessment or pharmacist exam
The third step of pharmacist process is to pass the authority assessment to obtain the license. There are three types of exams for pharmacist and technicians they are: Arabic language exam, pharmacist scientific exam, pharmacy law exam. According to the respective health care authority’s regulations you need to consider the requirements. For a DHA pharmacist you do not require passing the law and Arabic exam.
After passing the exam successfully, the pharmacist will get an eligibility letter or evaluation certificate which allows them to work in the particular country. DHA passing certificate is only valid for only one year and this certificate can be later converted into a professional license while they practice pharmacy.
There are certain documents required for pharmacist and technicians
- Education and work experience certificates (work experience of minimum 2 years in community or retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy is compulsory)
- Degree certificates like B-Pharm, M-Pharm or D-Pharm
- In case of pharmacy technicians- 2 years of diploma in pharmacy
- License from home country
- Submission good standing certificate from pharmacy council
- There should be no criminal records
- Passport is mandatory
Cost and visas
For being a pharmacist it requires an incurring cost which is related to the processing fees such as registration, examination and verification of documents. The procedures are done from their home country.
- Pro-metric exam is conducted online and centres are available inside India.
- To work in UAE visa is required
- Citizens of the GCC countries do not require visa to travel to the UAE.
- Indian citizen require visa before travel.
- If the aspirant has an eligibility letter, then you can apply for jobs from their home country.
